What did COGEN 3 do ?

COGEN 3 promoted the implementation of Proven, Clean & Efficient Biomass, Coal, Gas Cogeneration Projects by facilitating business partnerships between ASEAN industries and EUROPEAN suppliers. COGEN 3 was in operation in January 2002 to December 2004. This website will be available until 2015.

Organisation and Tasks

The Programme Management Unit (PMU) is based at Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), in Bangkok. The members of its staff have extensive experience in the power sector in South East Asia and are familiar with the conditions in the ASEAN region. They all have experience from various management positions in projects and/or companies in Europe and/or in ASEAN.

The European office is located at the headquarters of Carl Bro International AB, Malmö, Sweden. The experts have extensive business and technical experience worldwide from the private as well as the semi-public and public sectors. The office is responsible for setting-up economic relations between EU firms offering cogeneration technology and ASEAN partners by

  • advising suppliers on their business strategy in South East Asia and
  • distributing information about business opportunities in South East Asia to equipment suppliers in Europe

Country co-ordinators are located in ASEAN countries to gather market information and co-ordinate local activities between ASEAN industries and European suppliers.
