Power Tariffs to rise 3.5% in July-Sept
Business Times, June 12, 2004
ELECTRICITY tariffs will rise by and average 3.5 percent or 0.55 cent per kilowatt hour (kWh) for the July to September quarter.
Singapore Power said in a statement yesterday that the increase is due to rising fuel oil prices. Current tariffs are pegged to fuel oil price of US$26.23 per barrel, and for the July to September period, US$26.56 per barrel.
The tariff increase is, however, partially offset by a reduction in transmission charges. With the new rates, low tension users comprising residential and commercial customers receiving 230V / 400V supplies will now pay 16.35 cents per kWh, up 0.55 cent.
High tension users (22kV and 6.6 kV) have their tariff pegged at 13.11 cents per kWh for peak periods (up 0.54 cent), and 7.70 cents for off-peak periods, an increase of 0.66 cent per kWh.
Rates for extra high tension users (66kV and above) are 12.21 cents per kWh for peak periods (up 0.59 cent per kWh) and 7.60 cent for off-peak period (up 0.68 cent per kWh). The revised rates have been approved by the Energy Market Authority.
